Dental Technology
At Calapooia Family Dental we use cutting-edge dental technology to provide you with safe, fast, and effective results!
Updated Operatories
When we remodeled our office in 2017, we upgraded our dental operatory and sterilization equipment to the best available on the market. We choose A-dec, not only because they are the best in the industry, but they are locally operated in Newberg, Oregon.
The new A-dec 500 patient chairs contour to your back and neck, allowing you to relax for your entire appointment. The LED lights offer excellent visibility for our dentists, while reducing the brightness for you - all the while reducing heat and energy output. The dental units and sterilization center also feature the most advanced infection control system possible, keeping you safe while you receive care. Lastly, although we pride ourselves on excellent functionality, the A-dec Inspire cabinetry is truly beautiful, and integrates wonderfully with our new flooring and décor throughout!
We hope you will feel relaxed and comfortable from the moment you sit down.
Digital X-ray
In the past, most dental professionals had to use the traditional x-ray systems, which require film development. These days, we use digital x-rays due to their many benefits. A digital x-ray is safer and much quicker than its film predecessor. If the image comes out blurry, we can instantly retake a new one. Digital x-rays are a crucial diagnostic tool that helps us gain a better understanding of the inner workings of your mouth, more specifically the teeth, roots, and alveolar bone. Cone Beam CT Scan
A cone beam CT scan is a diagnostic tool that produces a 3D representation of your teeth, gums, nerve pathways, and underlying bone structure within a single image. We typically utilize cone beam CT scans when a regular x-ray is not enough. Cone beam CT scans are ideal for surgical planning, the diagnosis of TMJ disorders and tumors, and the evaluation of bone structure and tooth orientation.
Intraoral Camera
An intraoral camera is a handheld appliance that is shaped like a wand. The tiny camera at the tip of the appliance takes hundreds of pictures per second to capture an in-depth and accurate image of your mouth. This image is sometimes used to create a digital impression of your teeth and gums. A digital impression is particularly useful for same-day dental crowns.
Digital Impressions
At Calapooia Family Dental, our cutting-edge technology allows us to provide a supreme level of care for our patients. For instance, we now offer digital impressions thanks to a revolutionary device known as an intraoral scanner. Digital impressions have some advantages over traditional ones. Traditional impressions involve a material that is often messy, inconvenient, and uncomfortable. Read More About Digital Impressions
Ultrasonic Scalers
We use ultrasonic scalers for most adult dental cleanings. These devices use ultrasonic vibrations to help break down the plaque and calculus on the teeth that cause gingivitis and periodontal disease. The ultrasonic cleaners create microscopic bubbles that implode on the surface of the tooth, killing microbes and removing plaque and tartar in the process. Our instruments use a thin tip to better navigate in the periodontal pockets to help maintain optimal gingival health.
The procedure uses water and/or an antimicrobial liquid called chlorhexidine. It can remove tartar buildup in hard-to-reach areas, with no damage to the tooth enamel. Manual scaling often uses pressure for cleaning, while the vibration produced by the scaling tip of an ultrasonic scaler is barely perceptible. This makes ultrasonic cleaning suitable to those with sensitive teeth. The cleaning process is faster than manual scaling, making your visit more comfortable.
After your teeth have been cleaned with the ultrasonic cleaner, your teeth will be hand scaled to check for any residual deposits and then polished.
